What a feeling!
I have just accepted a summer internship with Google in California. Wow! The position is Usability Analyst and is such an amazing opportunity that can hardly believe its real. But lets start at the start.
Back in January 06, I was simply surfing around the internet mostly on Google's website looking at all their new tools and such when I stumbled on Jobs at Google, well who wouldn't be interested by that?! So I did a little digging and found an amazing opportunity (did i say that already?) to work as a usability analyst. Which is basically what I am doing now at my current co-op job at the university. I love my job, love the work, and it obviously has changed my life.
End of February or the beginning of March, I recieved an email from Meghan at Google. Asking for my availablity for an interview. HOLY CRAP. I had made it to the first interview. Wow, 45 minute phone interview with a Usability Analyst currently working there. It was a lot of stress and freaking out. but the interview itself was totally different than I expected all technical questions totally unscripted, just wanted to know what I know about this craft. I know my stuff so it went fairly well.
So a week went by after the interview and I'm pulling my hair out waiting for them to get back to me. Finally, get another email from Meghan, "congradulations we would like give you a second interview... but we can't for like almost two weeks... when are you available?" ... Waiting .. again. So the second interview came around finally and it was amazing. A really great interview, just one of those out of the park kind of interview. Still, this time it was all technical lasted about 50 minutes and didn't ask a personal question about me at all.
That was on Tuesday. Wednesday evening (last night) I recieved an email from Meghan. "Your interviews went really well and we would like to offer you a summer internship here."
AND... FREAK OUT
Totally insane, I still cannot believe that they actually have offered me the job. I have SO many questions, so much to do. And I'm sorry to say, I really haven't done any work today. I have just been freaking out the whole time.
but can you really blame me?
So this blog is to document my journey from Windsor to California and Back. Hopefully, I will keep it up to date and everyone can learn about my job and the going ons at the Googleplex.
Rock on
